Exciting plans are underway for the old Salem Calvinistic Methodist Chapel in Crynant, which has been closed since 2017! This historic gem, built in 1867, is set to be transformed into a care home, breathing new life into the Dulais Valley. The chapel, known for its architectural beauty and cultural significance, will undergo internal renovations to create a suitable and modern care home layout. Importantly, no changes will be made to the roof or external features, preserving its historic charm. The proposal highlights the building’s local importance and aims to maintain its stunning exterior while reconfiguring the interior. This transformation promises to secure the chapel’s future without compromising its historical essence. The project is now with Neath Port Talbot Council’s planning department and could soon see this historic structure play a vital role in the community once again. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting development!
