The spotlight’s on TPO, a chemical found in certain gel nail systems, now recognised for its potential risks to fertility and reproductive health. From 15th August, new batches containing TPO won’t hit the shelves. And come February 14, 2024, salons won’t legally stock them either!
But that’s not all! Earlier this month, stricter regulations also targeted other cosmetic components, like the UV filter 4-MBC and the fragrance ingredient Methyl Salicylate.
Why all the fuss? 🧐 Studies showed that TPO has strong skin-sensitising properties, which means repeated exposure can lead to allergies. Plus, it’s classified under Category 1B Reproductive Toxicant. Basically, it’s not something you want near your skin!
