Heartbreaking news from Pembrokeshire: Dai Hilton, a former Afghanistan war veteran, watched his home burn to the ground, losing not just his house but cherished possessions too. He, alongside his partner Danielle and their two sons, managed to escape the early morning blaze unharmed, but the emotional toll is immense.

Among the lost items were Dai’s precious service medals and his grandmother’s engagement ring, both deeply sentimental treasures. The devastation extends beyond the irreplaceable to include all household belongings, as the home was uninsured.
Community spirit has shone through the darkness, with local friends and businesses rallying around the family. Over £9,000 has already been raised to help them rebuild. Neighbours and local businesses have also offered clothes, necessities, and even physical help in the aftermath.

Dai expressed immense gratitude for the overwhelming support, stating, “I can’t thank people who’ve helped enough.” Though the destruction is hard to bear, the family’s safety remains a source of gratitude.
Dai’s determination to rebuild his life, supported by such a caring community, is truly inspiring. Every bit of help counts as they navigate this tough time, and it’s heartening to see so many coming together to lend a hand.
