Two quick-thinking nurses, Kelsey Pirie and Emma Brown, transformed a joyous wedding celebration into a life-saving mission at Bryngarw House, Bridgend. The duo, who work at Cimla Hospital in Neath, didn’t think twice about kicking off their heels and sprinting to action when they heard screams from a nearby pond.

A brave guest, Stefan Johnson, had already pulled a three-year-old boy from the water when Kelsey and Emma arrived. The little one wasn’t breathing, and his pulse had stopped. Despite having only adult CPR training, these incredible nurses jumped straight into action, providing chest compressions and rescue breaths.

Emma said, “It was tough with the amount of water, but after about five minutes, he started breathing again.” Just in time for emergency services to take over!

The dramatic rescue unfolded in full view of wedding guests, including a concerned bride who watched from her suite. Emma reflected, “Had it happened 10 minutes later, we might have been indoors for the ceremony and none the wiser.”

Thankfully, the toddler was taken to hospital in a stable condition, and South Wales Police are now looking into the circumstances of the incident.

Kelsey and Emma’s extraordinary courage, alongside Stefan’s quick actions, have earned them a nomination for a bravery award from the Royal Humane Society. 🌟

What a story that’ll stay with everyone involved forever! 🏆👏
