We are deeply saddened by the loss of Marcus Rees, a cherished father of two and friend to many. At just 36, Marcus tragically passed away while visiting a friend’s house, leaving a void in the lives of everyone who knew him.

Marcus was known for his protective nature over his children, his infectious personality, and his ability to make others smile. Despite his outward happiness, Marcus struggled silently, a reminder of the importance of opening up and supporting one another. His sister, Shannon Doyle, powerfully urges everyone to “keep talking” if feeling down, emphasising the need for openness and seeking help.

Before his passing, Marcus enjoyed quality time with family, sharing laughter and love. Yet, just days later, he was gone. His story highlights the critical issue of mental health and the heartbreaking reality that many face in silence.
Marcus’s memory will always be that of a vibrant person who truly lived life to the fullest, the life of the party who will be sorely missed. As we remember Marcus, let’s honour him by fostering an environment where everyone feels safe to express their struggles and find support.
If you’re in distress, reach out to someone, be it a friend, family, or support service. Remember, you are not alone. Let’s break the silence and continue the conversation on mental health, ensuring that no one else suffers in silence.
