It’s a big no-no to sell products after their “use by” date as opposed to the less restrictive “best before” date. This safeguard is crucial for public health, preventing unknowing customers from falling ill due to expired groceries. 🛑

Merthyr Tydfil Council has clamped down hard, imposing a fine of £3,500, alongside covering £854.85 in costs and a victim surcharge of £1,400, totalling £5,754.85. 💸

The council’s environmental health chief stressed the importance of keeping our food supply safe, saying: “Robust stock rotation is vital. This case highlights the importance of compliance to ensure public health is not compromised.” This ruling is a stark reminder to all food businesses: the safety and wellbeing of customers are non-negotiable. 🛒✅

Craig’s Meat Shack has been a familiar name in the community, having originally operated from a mobile truck before moving into its store location and rebranding. The community awaits any comments from Mr Wall, though he’s chosen to remain silent for now.
