In an act of pure love, Rachel Berry moved her entire wedding to her mum’s care home in Abergavenny to ensure her mum, Ruth, 75, who has dementia, wouldn’t miss the big day. “We wouldn’t have got married if we weren’t able to have mum there with us,” Rachel said, emphasising the special bond she shares with her mother.

The couple, from Ross-on-Wye, started the day with a ceremony at the register office in Usk before heading to Foxhunters Care Community, where Ruth resides. The caring staff laid out a red carpet and decorated the venue with balloons to make it truly festive. Residents and carers donned their finest for the exceptional occasion, making it a day to remember for everyone involved.

The blessing ceremony was conducted by maintenance manager Richard Clarke, who is also a qualified celebrant. This allowed Ruth to witness her daughter’s nuptials and see Rachel in her beautiful wedding dress. Rachel’s sister-in-law even arranged for a stunning red carpet, while her brother Simon proudly gave her away.
