Family Shocked as Baby’s Head Exhibits Rapid Growth Due to Serious Illness Long Overlooked

When baby Molly’s head began growing rapidly, her mum, Corrine, knew something was seriously wrong. Despite concerns being waved off as “common newborn behaviours,” Corrine, a nurse, trusted her instincts. Baby Molly exhibited an unusual fixed gaze, head tilt, and frequent vomiting, prompting her family to insist on further tests.

The shocking discovery? Molly had a rare and large ependymoma brain tumour. Rushed to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Molly underwent a gruelling nine-hour surgery that saved her life. Her fight didn’t end there. After a year-long clinical trial and a bittersweet MRI showing no tumour returns, the peace was short-lived; Molly’s cancer came back in early 2025.

Since then, Molly, a little warrior, has faced another operation, 33 radiotherapy sessions, and continues to overcome global development delay and hearing loss. Despite the hurdles, this strong, cheeky toddler embraces life at pre-school, inspiring everyone she meets.
