⚠️ Heads up, state pensioners! Big changes are coming, and they could hit your wallet. 📉

Here’s the scoop: The Personal Tax-Free Allowance, which is the amount you can earn annually without paying income tax, is currently set at £12,570. Right now, the full new state pension clocks in at £230.25 per week or £11,973 a year. But with expected payment hikes of 4.7% next April, it might cross that tax-free threshold—meaning some of you could start paying income tax for the first time by 2027.

Lily Megson-Harvey from My Pension Expert warns that this could be a “shock to many” and might undermine the benefits of the triple lock. Not only does this seem unfair to retirees, but the lack of clear guidance makes it hard to prepare. The Government should offer transparent advice to help pensioners plan for these shifts. 😟
While the Labour Government recently confirmed that the Personal Allowance won’t change until April 2028, decisions on the state pension need a sustainable long-term approach. We need transparency and fairness to ensure retirees aren’t caught off-guard. Let’s see if the Government takes the opportunity to protect those depending on these payments. 💷
