🚲🔒 Here’s one way to secure your snacks! In a humorous twist, a Greggs outlet in the lively Grainger Street area of Newcastle was caught using a bike lock on their drinks fridge! 😂

Customer Casey Cosgrove stumbled upon this quirky sight late one Saturday night and couldn’t resist sharing it on TikTok. The branch, known for its late-night hours, seems to have taken an unusual approach to deter shoplifters. A handwritten sign on the fridge simply read: “Please ask for drinks at counter thank you.”
While it might look odd, it’s not the first time a Greggs has tried out this makeshift security measure—another store did something similar earlier this year!

Reactions online range from amused to understanding. One user mentioned, “Such a shame they have to do this,” while another highlighted the inconvenience to paying customers. Others defended the bakery’s approach, recognising the need to protect jobs and business against theft.
Greggs, however, assures everyone that this isn’t a standard company policy and considers it an isolated incident. Whatever the case, this sight sure turned a few heads and sparked plenty of conversation! 🥐🥤
