The site, located just two miles from the town centre, will soon see the construction of a modern two-storey data centre, thanks to US-based Vantage Data Centres. This is just the beginning, as there are plans for up to 10 data centres at this location!

Data centres like these are the heart of digital storage and processing power, supporting everything from online banking to video streaming and cloud services. They operate around the clock, ensuring our digital lives run smoothly.

Council officials have hailed this project as a “major investment” for Bridgend, likely to bring about 950 full-time jobs once it’s up and running, along with 1,500 construction jobs over the next 15 years. This development could be a game-changer for the local economy!

Vantage Data Centres, the project’s mastermind, already has a strong presence in South Wales, with existing sites in Newport and St Athan. The upcoming Bridgend campus is set to be four times the size of Newport’s.

Construction is due to kick off in early 2026, with the first building expected to be completed in two years. While there’s approval for 10 centres, each one will undergo further review for full planning permission.

This transformation marks a new chapter for the former Ford site, which closed its doors in 2020 after four decades of operation. Stay tuned for more updates as this exciting project unfolds in Bridgend! 📈💼🌆
