An overconfident drug dealer from Birmingham made headlines with his audacious rap videos that bragged about flooding Welsh streets with Class A drugs. Jake Clarke used his ‘drill’ rap tracks to flaunt his illegal exploits and the cash he amassed from his crimes.

Clarke supplied fellow dealer Christopher Morgan in Newport with cocaine and heroin, operations that came to light after police discovered incriminating messages on a seized phone. These texts led to an extensive investigation, revealing a network of accomplices and further surprising discoveries.

The police were able to trace these gang activities through a series of texts, ‘text bombs’ ads, and even hotel CCTV footage, all connecting Clarke, Morgan, and their associates. Turns out, Clarke’s rhymes weren’t just for show – they were pretty much a public confession!

Adding fuel to the fire, when Clarke was taken to HMP Swansea, a body scanner flagged a suspicious package. A cell search uncovered crack cocaine and heroin worth between £6,000 and £12,000!

In the courtroom, Jake Clarke, aged 31, was slapped with a 12-year and six-month prison sentence for conspiracy to supply cocaine and heroin. His partner in crime, Christopher Morgan, got three years and eight months for conspiracy to supply heroin.

Meanwhile, their accomplices Rachael Butler and Katie Saunders received suspended sentences with community service and rehab for their roles in moving the money and drugs.

DCI Matt Edwards from Gwent Police stands firm: “Clarke thought he could live large by peddling drugs, but his songs got him a one-way ticket back to prison. These sentences should serve as a strong warning to others who think crime is the way to easy money.”

Let this be a lesson: crime might seem glamorous in music videos, but in reality, it’s definitely not worth the price! 🎶🚔 #CrimeDoesntPay #JusticeServed #GwentPolice
