đź’” Heartbreak on the Horizon

Tina Campbell, a devoted wife and mother, is fighting for justice after losing her husband Blair in a tragic accident. Blair, an avid gardener and dad of two, lost his life at just 35 while pruning hedges in Cheshire. The mishap occurred when he unknowingly cut through a hidden wire on a substation enveloped in thick ivy, leading to a fatal electrocution.

Originally from New Zealand, Blair moved to the UK for a fresh start, establishing Blue Kiwi Gardens and Maintenance in 2020 with dreams of a bright future. However, on October 3, 2022, that future was torn apart.

The inquest revealed that crucial warning signs were obscured by dense ivy. Distressingly, multiple reports had been made about the ivy, yet nothing was done before the tragedy struck. Post-accident, the company responsible for the substation, SP Energy Networks, updated their safety policies and cleared the ivy. However, for Tina, these actions come far too late.
Three years on, Tina is left grappling with the loss and the absence of any meaningful apology or compensation. Striving to support her children, aged six and ten, she describes the company’s response as “just awful.” Despite the complexities and delays that stalled proceedings, she’s now taking legal action, saying, “This can’t just go on and on.”
Tina’s poignant words highlight her everlasting love for Blair: “He was my soul mate. We met in New Zealand and were inseparable. To this day, I still wake up hoping that it’s all been a terrible nightmare.” She remains determined to honour Blair’s memory and ensure no other family endures such pain.
SP Energy Networks has expressed their condolences, acknowledging policy changes due to the incident. Yet, for Tina, it’s a protracted battle for peace and resolution, and her journey is far from over.
🙏 Our thoughts are with Tina and her family during this indefinably difficult time.
