Exciting news for families in Neath Port Talbot! 🎉 The Council has decided to bring the Family Link overnight respite service in-house, offering overnight stays for children with disabilities. Previously managed by Action for Children, this service will now benefit from the expertise of the council’s internal fostering team, known for their exceptional work with care-experienced children.

This change, set for March 2026, promises better integration with existing services and innovative approaches tailored to each child’s needs. The annual budget of £105,000 has been deemed fully sufficient to cover these services in-house. This move aims to ensure that children have fun, learn new skills, and provide their parents and carers with much-needed breaks.
Council leader Steve Hunt highlighted the importance of this service, with the welfare and happiness of children at the centre of the council’s mission. This decision received unanimous approval at the recent council cabinet meeting, marking a significant step forward for the community.
