Imagine this: you’re out for a peaceful walk on Bargoed Common with your dog, and you stumble upon a giant snake! That’s exactly what happened to Charlotte Smith, whose dog Ella discovered the snake, sparking quite the adventure. The serpent, believed to be a type of python, measured between one and two metres long.

Charlotte, who knows a thing or two about snakes, initially thought it might be hibernating. However, it was later confirmed that the snake had sadly passed away. “It’s quite sad,” Charlotte shared, noting that it seemed unlikely for the snake to have made its way to the common on its own, especially given the chilly weather.

The snake’s presence remains a mystery, with Charlotte guessing it might have been dumped deliberately. Despite the curious situation, she’s urging people to show respect for all creatures, big or small. “If a puppy had been dumped, people would care more,” she said. “But because it’s a snake, people think: ‘Eww, I don’t care.’”

Charlotte’s mum didn’t stick around to ponder the snake’s fate, though; the sight sent her sprinting in the opposite direction! 🏃‍♀️💨

In hopes of finding any potential owner, Charlotte posted images online, wondering if anyone was missing their slippery pet. She reported the finding to Gwent Police and the RSPCA to ensure the snake was dealt with respectfully.

So, next time you’re wandering through Bargoed Common, keep your eyes peeled and give a thought to the wildlife out there. Remember, every creature deserves a bit of respect—even those that give us a fright! 🌍🐍❤️
