🚨 Big changes proposed for State Pension and student fees! 🚨

A new petition is stirring the pot and urging the UK Government to make some major adjustments to the State Pension. The brainchild of David Matthews, this petition calls for a shake-up that could pave the way for free university education for all students.
What’s on the table? 🤔
1️⃣ Reviewing, reforming, and means-testing the State Pension.

2️⃣ Scrapping the State Pension Triple Lock that’s responsible for increasing payments annually.
3️⃣ Cutting pensions for those with private-earning pension schemes above £20k.
4️⃣ Completely nixing State Pensions for anyone making over £50k a year.

These potential changes are aimed at freeing up funds to abolish those daunting tuition fees, which are seen as a barrier to higher education. With student debt often hitting £50,000, something’s got to give! 😬
As it stands, State Pension is a contributory benefit, funded by National Insurance contributions from workers. The petition hints at redirecting funds to prioritise sectors like the NHS and Defence while supporting students who need it most.
Reaching 10,000 signatures means the petition will get a Government response. If this baby hits 100,000, it could be debated in Parliament! Want to add your voice? You know what to do. 🔗
In other news, the Department for Work and Pensions recently stated there are no plans to introduce means-testing for the State Pension, despite concerns from various quarters.
It’s a hot topic, and we want to hear your thoughts! Would these changes make a difference? Share your opinions below. 👇
