Alan Shearer has a humorous tale from last year’s London Marathon that’s sure to give you a laugh! The football legend shared an amusing story on The Rest is Football podcast about his daughter Chloe’s fiancé, rugby star Micky Young, who made a memorable blunder.
After cheering on Newcastle’s victory over Ipswich, Micky was supposed to hop on a train to London to support Alan’s son, Will, in the marathon. But things went awry when Micky accidentally boarded a train headed to Edinburgh! Realising the mix-up too late, he had no choice but to endure a long detour. Can you imagine the horror when that train announcement came on?
As if that wasn’t enough, poor Micky then ended up on a Megabus adventure from Edinburgh to London, rolling into the capital at 6.45am the next day. And you thought your commute was difficult!
Shearer couldn’t resist poking fun, saying, “You’re meant to be looking after my daughter in the future!” Despite the travel chaos, Shearer had to give credit where it was due: that’s commitment to family!
