🌞 Summer has officially arrived, and Barry Island just proved it with tens of thousands descending on its sandy shores! On what turned out to be the hottest day of the year, sunseekers filled the beach while claiming their spots with deckchairs, towels, and umbrellas. ☀️

The iconic seaside spot was bustling with families, tourists, and day-trippers all enjoying the scorching heat (don’t forget your SPF 50!). From early morning, the queues snaked for ice cream stalls, cafes, and popular fairground rides.
🚗 If you planned to get there by car, it was a journey with a twist! Severe traffic delays left many stuck for hours—something beachgoers say was the worst they’ve seen. Meanwhile, high spirits dominated as kids splashed around in the sea, and the promenade buzzed with laughter and excitement under perfectly clear blue skies.

Why so busy? It’s not just the mercury that’s rising. With temperatures expected to soar to 31C across south and mid Wales—and even hitting 35C in the southeast of England—everyone’s making the most of this unexpected heatwave. It’s that rare May weather that’s got us all running for the coast.
Barry Island is living up to its nickname, “Barrybados,” proving once again why it’s a must-visit when the sun is shining. If you’re planning to join the fun, remember traffic’s going to be a bear, so pack your patience along with your flip-flops! 🌊🏖️
