Dating back to 1773, the Eagles Inn is more than just a pub; it’s a vital social hub, offering a welcoming gathering spot for locals and visitors, complete with a unique bunkhouse that attracts mountain bikers and hikers alike. So far, an impressive £46,500 has been amassed through a share offer, but there’s still a long way to go. With the share offer open until April 30th, local residents, former community members, and supporters from across the UK are encouraged to invest, with a minimum contribution of just £50.

Ceri Morris, of Cynnal Bro Machno, emphasises the importance of this project, saying: “The Eagles is already a thriving pub and could have a really bright future under community ownership.” Not only does the pub feature two bar lounges and picturesque views, but it also hosts weekly Welsh classes and monthly open mic nights, celebrating local language and talent in a valley with historic cultural significance.

The community has shown resilience in the past; when the local church was closed, residents successfully campaigned for its restoration. Now, they turn their determination to saving the Eagles, with ambitious plans to transform it into a more adaptable community hub.

With structural improvements in mind, including accessible facilities, the community is determined to preserve its cherished pub. The campaign has even garnered global support, with the Phoenix Bar in the Falkland Islands joining as an official supporter and an Australian choir interested in performing there.

Join the locals in their fight to ensure the Eagles Inn remains a cornerstone of Machno Valley life, helping maintain its unique character and heritage. Let’s keep this 18th-century treasure thriving for generations to come! 🍻 #SaveTheEaglesInn #CommunitySpirit #WelshHeritage
