🌟 Remembering the Legendary Voice of BBC Wales 🌟
We’re heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Glyn Lewis, the iconic voice that graced BBC Wales for over 27 years. Not only known for his memorable announcements, Glyn was a vibrant part of Cardiff’s LGBTQ+ scene. As Edna Clouds and Sister Gloria Snockers, he was a leader, spreading chaos and laughter like glitter! ✨
Glyn was a founding member of the Cardiff chapter of the Order of Perpetual Indulgence, passionately advocating for support and visibility within the LGBTQIA+ community. His humour and dedication helped shape the spirit and direction of the Cardiff sisters from day one.
Colleagues and friends are pouring in their tributes, remembering him as “proudly and authentically himself,” bringing warmth, colour, and kindness to every encounter. Garmon Rhys, Interim Director of BBC Wales, recalled him as a “deeply caring person” with a distinctive creative flair.
Glyn’s presence at events like Pride Cymru was as iconic as his voice on the BBC. His larger-than-life personality shone through, whether performing as a Sister or leading the way at Dragged To Church and World AIDS Day events.
Mary’s Bar, a cherished spot in the Cardiff scene, paid homage to him as “a true character,” while friends reminisced about his devout passion for making the world a better place.
Rest in power, Glyn, Gloria, Edna – you were truly irreplaceable, a walking, talking rainbow of love. Thank you for being ‘bloody brilliant.’ 🎤🌈
Our hearts go out to his loved ones during this difficult time. 💔
