Heartbreaking news from Swansea as we remember Liam Harmer, a cherished Big Issue seller and beloved part of the community, who sadly passed away in a flat fire in Townhill. Known for his warmth and kindness, Liam was a fixture in Sketty, greeting passersby with his daily wave and friendly smile.

Emergency crews responded to the fire at Elphin Gardens, but tragically, Liam couldn’t be saved. His impact was profound; friends and customers alike are celebrating his gentle spirit and the genuine connections he nurtured over the years. Tom Watts, who worked with Liam for over a decade, described him as “one of the kindest vendors” and recalled their chats about science fiction – a shared passion for Arthur C. Clarke.
Liam’s positivity was a beacon, even during challenging times. Those who knew him say he had the rare ability to bring joy and comfort to anyone he encountered. A community is mourning, but also fondly remembering a man whose daily presence was a light in their lives.

Police have an ongoing investigation and request anyone with concerns about friends or relatives at Elphin Gardens to get in touch. Liam’s absence leaves a significant gap, but his memory will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, Liam – you will be greatly missed. 🌹
