🌟 Big News for Primary Pupils in Wales! 🌟
The Welsh Government just announced a major boost for free school meals, allocating an additional £8m to ensure every primary child can enjoy a free lunch each day! With this new funding, the amount spent per meal will rise from £3.20 to £3.40 to help cover rising costs.
This initiative has been a key pillar in the effort against child poverty, with schools serving a whopping 57 million meals since the programme’s launch three years ago. It’s all part of a grand plan to give every child a fair shot at a nutritious meal and a brighter future. 🍏🥪
However, the offer doesn’t extend to secondary pupils, who must meet income-based criteria for free meals. As the largest local education authority in Wales revealed, about 25% of eligible primary students aren’t taking advantage of the free meal option. Could it be time to spread the word and make the most of what’s on offer? 🤔
Education Minister Lynne Neagle emphasised the commitment to ending child poverty, stating, “Universal primary free school meals show how serious we are about giving every child the best possible start.”
Wales stands unique in the UK for providing free school meals to all primary learners, and now it’s offering the highest funding per meal. Way to lead the change, Wales! 🌍💪
Let’s keep supporting our kids and ensuring they get the meals they deserve. Share the news and make sure every primary parent knows about this fantastic opportunity! 📚👦👧 #WalesEducation #FreeSchoolMeals #ChildPoverty #SupportOurChildren
