Today, Port Talbot faced a dramatic day as thick black smoke took over the skyline. A major fire broke out on an industrial estate on Dock Road, involving a whopping 200 tonnes of commercial waste. The towering smoke, visible as far as Mumbles, startled locals and disrupted traffic on the M4, causing a massive headache for drivers.

Residents were quick to close their windows and doors to keep out the dense smoke, despite the balmy weather. Firefighters from several stations, including Port Talbot, Neath, and Morriston, bravely tackled the blaze alongside the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service. The fire is still ongoing, and crews are expected to work into the night to get it under control.

Authorities have urged everyone to steer clear of the area to let emergency vehicles through and only call 999 if there’s an immediate risk to life or property. While the cause of the fire remains unknown, the impact on the community is evident.
If you’re in the area, remember to keep windows shut and find alternative routes to avoid disruptions. Let’s stay safe and keep our fingers crossed for a swift resolution. Stay updated with the latest from Port Talbot and take care!
