Big changes are brewing at BrewDog! 🍻 The iconic craft beer brand is set to close 38 bars across the UK, as a new era begins under the ownership of US-based Tilray Brands. Unfortunately, this means Cardiff’s beloved venue will be shutting its doors alongside others, affecting 484 jobs.

Tilray, renowned for its craft beer and medicinal cannabis production, acquired BrewDog in a £33 million deal. This includes taking over the brewery operations and 11 pub venues in the UK and Ireland. The takeover aims to preserve 733 jobs, keeping some of BrewDog’s beloved breweries, like those in Ellon and Motherwell, active as part of its core operations.

Though the shutdown is a huge blow to staff and communities, BrewDog’s franchise bars—18 in the UK and others worldwide—will keep the punk spirit alive! 🙌

What’s staying around from the BrewDog family? Tilray secured the global BrewDog brand, its brewing business, and select pubs in the UK and Ireland. In the mix of closures and operations, the bold craft beers like Punk IPA and Elvis Juice will remain part of your beer run favourites.
With all these changes, Clare Kennedy, BrewDog’s joint administrator, expressed hopes for support from other UK leisure operators for those affected by job cuts. They note that although it’s a tough goodbye to many beloved bars, this transition aims to safeguard BrewDog’s future.
Here’s a shout-out to all those amazing folks from the bars set to close. The spirit of BrewDog is alive in every pour, and we hope to raise a pint with you all again soon. 🍻 Cheers!
