🚨 Big Shake-Up for Pensions? 🚨

Sir Tony Blair’s think tank is shaking things up by calling for the government to ditch the triple lock on state pensions. 🇬🇧🔒 Their proposal? A radical ‘Lifespan Fund’!

The Tony Blair Institute argues the current system is outdated and unaffordable. They propose a flexible model where you build your pension through work, caring, and studying! Imagine accessing some of these funds during important life moments like unemployment or retraining – sounds good, right?
Once you’re back to work, you’d re-contribute to build your pension back up. This idea is to prevent the state pension from skyrocketing faster than earnings growth and encourage political parties to agree before the next election.
Tom Smith from the Institute says we need a pension system that suits today’s lifestyle. A new system would let people have the freedom to use their funds in ways that suit their lives, not just wait until retirement.
But not everyone agrees! 🚫 Caroline Abrahams from Age UK insists the triple lock should stay, highlighting that it’s vital for the poorest pensioners, especially in tough times with rising energy prices.
What’s your take? Should we revamp the state pension system, or keep the triple lock intact?
