The Northern Lights put on an incredible show over parts of Wales on Monday night, painting the sky with stunning green and pink hues. Sky gazers were left in awe across Pembrokeshire as the rare spectacle lit up the night. This dazzling display was a result of a solar flare and a coronal mass ejection (CME) from the Sun, making its way to Earth. The Met Office had predicted that auroras might be visible in northern Britain and, if the conditions were just right, possibly even further south.

Photographers captured the magical sight just before 10pm, and those photos have since been spreading joy online. The Met Office explains that these captivating Northern Lights, usually seen in polar regions, occasionally grace our skies due to solar activity. And if you missed it, don’t worry! There’s still hope for another chance to catch a glimpse. The early hours of Tuesday could present another opportunity, especially if clouds stay away. For the best view, head to a dark area, look north, and hope for clear skies!
