🏃♂️💨 Smashing Records at the Cardiff Half Marathon 2025! 🏅

What a race! The Cardiff Half Marathon was full of excitement as thousands took to the streets, and the performances were nothing short of spectacular. The buzz? A brand-new record!
🥇 Ethiopian sensation Yismaw Dillu, in his debut half marathon, stole the show with a jaw-dropping time of 59:22, beating the previous record by over seven seconds! Despite the windy conditions, he surged ahead of the pack, leaving Kenya’s Ismael Kiprono and fellow Ethiopian Fikadu Liche to secure second and third.

🏃♀️🥈 On the women’s side, Miriam Chebet defended her title with flair. The Kenyan champion raced through to finish five seconds ahead of her previous time, clocking in at 1:06:36. Chebet showed immense strength, especially against the winds at Cardiff Bay, finishing ahead of Ethiopia’s Alem Nigus and Wudinesh Alimu.
🦽 Callum Hall delivered a stellar performance in the wheelchair race, claiming victory once again in 53:46, shaving over a minute off his previous best!
Local heroes also shone bright. Jake Smith, from Pontypridd Roadents, led the British men finishing 10th overall, while Charlotte Taylor topped the British women’s field.
“Such a good race and such a good atmosphere,” commented Dan Nash, the Welsh Half Marathon winner, who was proud to compete close to home.
From elite runners to everyday heroes, the support along the course was phenomenal, making this a day to remember. Kudos to every participant for pushing through the gusty winds and making it a marathon for the books! 🎉
