Welsh boxing champ Joe Cordina has found himself in the spotlight once more, but this time it’s not for his prowess in the ring. The 34-year-old former world champion recently appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court, making headlines as he pleaded not guilty to two counts of alleged assault by beating outside a petrol station in Cardiff. The incident allegedly took place at Pentwyn service station back in February, involving Jamie O’Brien, who also faces charges related to the altercation.

Cordina’s trial is set for October 13, and while the courtroom drama unfolds, he’s also dealing with some disappointing news on the professional front. He recently shared on Instagram his frustration over not being able to participate in a major WBO lightweight title fight against Abdullah Mason. Despite having a stellar training camp, Cordina’s plans were thrown into disarray after a visa mix-up barred him from entering the US.
Expressing his disappointment, Cordina said, “It’s out of my hands and I’m absolutely gutted. Becoming a three-time, two-weight world champion and fighting for a world title in America was a goal of mine.”

Stay tuned for more updates as the situation develops. Will Cordina be back in the ring soon? Time will tell!
