Charlotte Church wasted no time after her split from Welsh rugby star Gavin Henson. After ending their five-year relationship, which saw them welcome two children and briefly get engaged, Charlotte moved on with musician Jonathan Powell, now her husband. Ever the respectful ex, Charlotte felt she owed it to Gavin to ask for his blessing before making things official with Jonathan.

Charlotte shared that she had been working with Jonathan for a while, but they didn’t realise any romantic feelings while both were in other relationships. “When I’m with someone, I’m fully committed,” she confessed, revealing how she approached Gavin to clear any potential misunderstandings.

Dubbed the ‘Welsh Posh and Becks,’ Charlotte and Gavin’s relationship was constantly in the spotlight, which brought its own set of challenges. “The press intrusion was insane,” Charlotte remarked, recalling how the tabloids often painted her in a negative light.
As their romance was publicly scrutinised, it became apparent that they were living drastically different lifestyles. “We were such different people in every way,” Charlotte mentioned, noting how their varying beliefs and routines eventually led them to question their future together. Despite their breakup being amicable, reflecting on the moment he proposed, Charlotte recalled being “overjoyed.” Yet, just weeks later, both had a change of heart, realising they were perhaps better apart.
Fast forward to now, and both have found happiness in new relationships. Charlotte married Jonathan in 2017, and they have since welcomed their daughter, Frida. Gavin, too, has found love again with Katie Mould, whom he married in 2019. Together, Charlotte and Gavin remain dedicated and involved parents for their two teenagers, showing that even high-profile splits can lead to positive new chapters.
