Tasking myself with the dreaded oven cleaning chore, I picked up Mr Muscle for £4 at Sainsbury’s and Elbow Grease for only £1.69 from Home Bargains. My expectations were high for the pricier Mr Muscle, but the results were surprising.

I started by blasting my oven with some heat to loosen up the stubborn muck, then sprayed Mr Muscle on one side and Elbow Grease on the other. Right away, I noticed the difference; Mr Muscle came out as a thick foam that took its sweet time to cover but Elbow Grease sprayed on like a fine mist, making application quick and easy.

After half an hour, it was time to wipe away the mess. The foam on the Elbow Grease side had turned darker, proof it had lifted more grease. Meanwhile, much of Mr Muscle’s foam stayed clinging to the oven walls, leaving more work for me.

Despite both sprays lifting grease on the first go, those pesky burnt-on stains needed more attention. So, I went in for round two…and three…and finally five rounds later, Elbow Grease left the entire side spotless. Mr Muscle, though, still had those few stubborn stains hanging on.

In the end, Elbow Grease didn’t just win the price battle; it provided a bigger bottle, applied faster, and after multiple uses, lifted every last stain. Looks like the underdog cleaner has earned its spot in my cleaning cupboard!
