ππ§Ή **Cardiff Bay Clean-Up Shocker!** π§Ήπ

When 22 enthusiastic volunteers turned up for a clean-up event in Cardiff Bay, they certainly didn’t expect to find an ocean of rubbish waiting for them! Just metres away from the Senedd, they discovered a jaw-dropping array of litter, including 15 traffic cones, children’s car seats, large toys, and even rubber ducks. π±π¦

This litter boom isn’t just an eyesoreβit’s a huge problem for local wildlife too. Animals are trying to nest on piles of rubbish, including a staggering amount of polystyrene and microplastics. Talk about a tough neighbourhood! π¦π’
Dave King from the Cardiff Rivers Group explained that due to river currents, waste from as far as Merthyr ends up in this corner of the bay. With the help of floating skips from the harbour authority and some serious manpower, these amazing volunteers are pushing for cleaner shores.
But this heroic effort is just the beginning. Imagine what could be achieved with broader community involvement! Dave dreams of a combined force of volunteers from various environmental organisations making an even bigger impact on the bay. πͺπ€
The situation cries out for innovative solutions, and the upcoming deposit return scheme for drink containers is a promising start. Roll on October 2027, when recycling for profit could make litter-picking much more rewarding. β»οΈπ·
These dedicated volunteers have shown how much impact a small group can make in just two hours. Imagine the possibilities with more hands on deck! πβ¨
Feeling inspired? Gather your friends and join the next clean-up event. Let’s make Cardiff Bay a litter-free zone and a pristine paradise it deserves to be! ποΈπ
