A worrying scene unfolded in Brynmawr when two brave men ended up unconscious after stepping in to defend a woman. It all kicked off when they spotted Tristan Brooks shouting at his girlfriend and decided to intervene, telling him that such behaviour wasn’t right. Tristan fired back with aggression, claiming he was the “psycho from Bryn Farm” and warned them off.

Just when things seemed like they might calm down, Tristan’s father, Jason Brooks, showed up. What happened next was pure violence. CCTV footage later revealed Jason swinging punches that knocked David Billings and Douglas Thomas to the ground, with tragic results. Both men were left battered, one with a fractured eye socket and the other with a broken nose.

During a court hearing, victim David Billings shared his trauma, admitting he’s now living in fear of further attacks. Jason Brooks had a history of violence but was considered for rehabilitation due to family responsibilities. Meanwhile, young Tristan, who was 18 at the time, seemed remorseful, taking steps to change his lifestyle. He hasn’t touched alcohol since the night of the incident and is focusing on his studies.

The judge didn’t hold back in her condemnation, calling their actions shocking and cowardly. Despite the severity of their deeds, both father and son received suspended sentences and were ordered to complete community service and rehabilitation. The case serves as a grim reminder of how quickly nights out can descend into violence and leaves us contemplating the courage it takes to stand up against aggression. Stay safe, folks!
