🚨 Shocking Crime in Carmarthenshire 🚨

A night out ended in tragedy when a woman trusted her taxi driver to get her home safely. Instead, Dominic Dalton, 30, from Pencader, betrayed that trust in the most horrific way. After picking up two friends in Aberystwyth, Dalton dropped one off first, leaving him alone with the victim. Claiming the taxi meter had stopped working, he drove her home, helped her to her room, and tragically took advantage of her vulnerability.

The victim bravely fought back, attempting to get Dalton out of her house and even managed to escape, damaging his car in the process. She found safety and was able to contact the police. Astonishingly, Dalton later returned to the scene of the crime, realising he still had the victim’s phone. He quickly realised police were on the scene, leading him to search online about false accusations of rape.

After a thorough investigation by Dyfed-Powys Police, Dalton was arrested and charged. He denied the charges, claiming the sex was consensual, but after a five-day trial, a jury found him guilty of rape. Dalton will spend the next nine years in prison.
Detective Inspector Mathew Nelson praised the victim’s courage in coming forward and highlighted the importance of her decision in protecting others. He emphasised the trust inherent in the role of a taxi driver, which Dalton betrayed. The sentence serves both as punishment for Dalton’s actions and a validation of the victim’s bravery.
