Big Changes in Councillor Salaries in Ceredigion! 💰

In Ceredigion, councillor salaries are on the rise again, with the council recently approving pay hikes across the board. The leader of the council gets a significant boost, seeing an increase of over £4,000 this year alone—and a remarkable £11,000 since 2023!

For this year, all 19 councillors will now receive a basic salary of £21,044, which is an increase of £1,273 from the previous year. Meanwhile, the six cabinet members will see their salaries rise to £40,247, up by £2,435. The leader’s salary now hits £67,079, and even the deputy leader enjoys a jump, now earning £46,955.
Senior roles, such as committee chairs and the opposition leader, have seen their salaries increased to £31,567. The council’s civic roles are not left out, with the chair and vice-chair now earning £31,567 and £25,253, respectively.
These salaries aren’t just numbers on a page—they’re set by the Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales and reflect growth since 2023. So, from the basic councillor right up to the leader, the pay increases continue to roll in.
