Heartbreaking news from Hengoed: two cats, Phoebe and Ditzy, have had to be put to sleep after enduring severe neglect. Their owners, Paul Prosser and Laura Mills, were banned from keeping animals for five years following a court ruling.

The RSPCA visited their home last August and found the cats in desperate condition. Both suffered from severe dental issues—imagine dribbling thick yellow discharge and having bones visible through their fur. Their coats were unkempt, stained, and matted. It was a clear sign of distress and neglect.
Despite the financial hardships the couple claimed, it’s essential to ensure our pets are well taken care of. The RSPCA inspector, Emma Smith, highlighted the importance of seeking help if struggling to care for animals.

While Mills and Prosser have been given community orders and fines, the focus remains on the welfare of the remaining animals, urging owners to only take in pets they can adequately support.
Every pet deserves love and proper care. Let’s raise awareness and ensure no animal endures such suffering. If you or someone you know is struggling with pet care, reach out to local organisations for support. 🐾💔
