🍻🚗 A night out with workmates turned into a life-altering event for Ryan Sims, who decided to drive after a few drinks. The decision led to a crash into a traffic island in Crosskeys, Caerphilly.

Ryan, 31, wasn’t hurt badly but had to be hospitalised, where tests showed he was well over the drink-driving limit with 123mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood. The legal limit is just 80mg. He admitted the mistake in Newport magistrates’ court, dressed in a sharp navy suit but facing the music.

His daring drive cost him dearly—his partner left him, forcing a move back to his parents’ place. This crash didn’t just dent his car; it shook his life. Luckily, he managed to get a new job in Bristol, though it means long commutes relying on public transport.

Judge Sophie Toms handed Ryan an 18-month driving ban alongside a hefty fine, emphasising the recklessness of driving after drinking. “You’re lucky no one was hurt,” she said, underlining how close this could have been to a tragedy.
Outside court, Ryan reflected on the repercussions, noting he was thankful nobody else was affected by his poor judgment. A sobering reminder of the risks of drink-driving! 🍺❌🚘 #ThinkBeforeYouDrink #StaySafe
