🏉 Big news for Welsh rugby fans! Former captain Ryan Jones recently underwent surgery to tackle a nagging injury from over a decade ago. After hanging up his boots in 2015, the 75-cap hero who led Wales to three Grand Slam victories has been a dedicated triathlete. However, an old ankle injury threatened to slow him down.

Ryan, 44, decided it was time to remove the plate in his leg that had become increasingly troublesome. He had the procedure before Christmas at Neath Port Talbot Hospital and is now on the mend with physiotherapy. “I’m 10 years post-playing now. It’s almost like doing running repairs on an old car,” Jones says, highlighting the importance of staying fit despite past sports injuries.
The rugby legend has completed two Ironman challenges, cheekily recalling, “The first one was a career low as Shane [Williams] passed me on the marathon stage!”

Ryan expressed heartfelt thanks to the NHS staff, praising the care he received: “Their professionalism and compassion are second to none.”

Wishing Ryan a speedy recovery and hoping to see him back on the triathlon circuit soon! 🏃♂️🚴♂️
