In a heart-wrenching tale, the family of baby Jensen-Lee Dougal is left to grapple with a profound loss after his tragic death at just five months old. Described as their “world, little prince, and joy,” young Jensen-Lee’s life was cut short after he was violently shaken by his stepfather, Thomas Morgan, who was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Morgan, 29, attacked the infant in a fit of rage at the family home in Clydach, Swansea Valley, while the baby’s mother, Jordan Dougal, was at work. The court heard Morgan was embroiled in a heated argument with an ex-partner just before the tragedy. Jensen-Lee suffered devastating injuries, and despite paramedics’ efforts, he couldn’t be saved. His mother ultimately had to make the heart-breaking decision to end life support, holding Jensen-Lee in her arms as he passed.
Reflecting on their irreplaceable loss, Jordan described her son as innocent and deeply loved, emphasising the aching absence felt in the wake of his death. Her heartfelt statement in court revealed a wound that time cannot heal, as she expressed anguish over not witnessing Jensen-Lee’s milestones, like his first steps or starting school.

Lucy O’Connor, Jensen-Lee’s grandmother, shared how “amazing” it was to watch her grandson grow, while Michael O’Connor, Jensen-Lee’s grandfather, talked about the overwhelming joy the baby brought into their lives. Their family’s lives have been shattered, grappling with the trust betrayed by a person who was supposed to care for Jensen-Lee.

Through tears and pain, the family has vowed to remember Jensen-Lee not as a victim but as a beloved little boy who brought light and happiness in his short time. His story is a painful reminder of the responsibility adults hold to protect those who rely on them entirely for safety and love.
