🎉🌿 A New Era for the Senedd Chamber! 🌿🎉
Have a sneak peek inside the newly revamped Senedd! With a £4m makeover, our beloved Siambr is now ready to welcome 36 more members. The changes align with our lovely Welsh vibes — sustainable, functional, and forward-thinking.
✨ What’s New?
– 36 brand new desks for a larger parliament.
– Accessibility upgrades with seamless flooring (buh-bye steps 👋).
– Enhanced tech with snazzy ICT systems to keep us future-ready!
🏛️ Why it Matters
The expansion isn’t just about extra desks—it’s about enhancing scrutiny and making our democratic processes more robust ahead of May’s big election.
🌳 Keeping it Environmental
In true Welsh spirit, the redesign reused slate from the original quarry and oak from the old desks, retaining the essence of the Senedd’s award-winning design. It’s a nod to our roots while stepping boldly into the future.
👓 A Look Back
For the past year, members have been working from the old Ty Hywel chamber to pave the way for this transformative work. Now, we’re all set for a new chapter!
🗣️ As Llywydd Elin Jones beautifully puts it: “Our debating chamber has been transformed to meet the needs of a larger parliament and a new era of Welsh democracy as we look ahead to the election on May 7.”
Come May, let’s welcome the future of Welsh democracy in a space designed for openness and sustainability, truly serving the people of Wales! 🌍❤️
