Tom worked as a car sprayer and was passionate about fast cars, but this love for speed ultimately led to his untimely death. His friend and passenger, William Plant, shared that Tom was in control but had been going too fast, saying, “It was just the wrong place, wrong time.” Despite the thrilling drive, William emphasised that Tom never intended to put anyone in danger.

Tom’s family remembers him as a fun-loving, kind-hearted person. His grandmother recalled his passion for his work, his health kick, and how he supported those around him. Tributes flowed in from friends and family, highlighting the void left by his passing.

The inquest revealed that the BMW was driving erratically, and though the Clio driver checked her mirrors, the speed of Tom’s car made it impossible for her to predict the catastrophic event. The police found no defects in either vehicle, and no action was taken against the Clio driver.

Assistant Coroner Lindsey Tonks concluded that Tom’s death resulted from a road traffic collision, poignantly remarking on the tragic loss of a young life and the significant impact it leaves on loved ones.
