Exciting changes are happening at Swansea Council! 🎉 Councillors Rebecca Fogarty and Andrew Williams have teamed up to share a cabinet role, marking the second job-sharing arrangement in the council’s history. As part of this new setup, Cllr Fogarty will take charge of the mayoralty, civic functions, and commercial services. Meanwhile, Cllr Williams will manage planning, public protection, performance monitoring, customer services, and licensing.

This innovative move comes as Cllr Robert Francis-Davies steps back temporarily due to ill health. Wishing Cllr Francis-Davies a speedy recovery! 🌟

Council leader Rob Stewart expressed his enthusiasm for the new appointments, emphasising that this approach allows the council to remain flexible and focused on the needs of Swansea residents. This mini-reshuffle isn’t just about filling roles; it’s about reinforcing a dynamic team ready to tackle the challenges ahead.
There are a few more adjustments in the cabinet: Cllr David Hopkins is broadening his responsibilities to include parks, sports development, and inward investment. Cllr Andrea Williams adds residential inward investment and strategic housing delivery to her duties, and both remain as joint deputy council leaders.
Cllr Stewart will work with Cllrs Hopkins and Elliott King on tourism and regeneration, filling the gap left by Cllr Francis-Davies, while Cllr Andrew Stevens will manage electric vehicle infrastructure and sports development. These changes are part of an ongoing effort to enhance community regeneration and strengthen suburban centres. 🏞️
With these fresh faces and reshaped roles, Swansea Council is ready to continue delivering essential services and focus on what matters most to its community. Keep an eye on these dynamic developments! 🏛️
