Newly minted Green Party councillor, Baggy Khan, is in the spotlight after sharing a flashy video of himself driving a Lamborghini, raising eyebrows among his constituents. The 25-year-old, who recently snagged a win in Bolton’s Halliwell ward, found himself at the centre of a social media storm as the clip circulated on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.

The lavish Lamborghini Huracán Spyder, known for its staggering price tag of up to £270,000 and its less-than-green fuel efficiency, had some folks crying foul, questioning if this aligns with Green Party ideals. Critics questioned whether a Green Party figure should be promoting car culture, but it seems there’s more to the story.

Khan’s political ally, Councillor Hanif Alli, stepped up in his defence. He clarified that the Lamborghini joyride was part of a family wedding celebration back in 2023, a common splash of extravagance at such events. It’s not unlike hiring Bentleys or Rolls-Royce cars for a traditional British wedding, according to Alli.
Amidst the backlash, some social media users branded Khan as a hypocrite, with one comment stating, “Absolute joke a local councillor driving a car like that.” But Khan hit back, questioning the unwritten rule against councillors enjoying high-end cars.
Interestingly, this isn’t Khan’s first rodeo with controversy. Last month, Bolton Labour demanded answers following another video, allegedly showing him recording while driving. Khan remains confident in his innocence, emphasising his focus on uplifting young voices in politics and serving his community.
