🚨 Pensioner causes a scene in Welshpool! 🚨

A 77-year-old man was fined nearly £1,000 for a heated altercation with a traffic warden. Stephen Doughty, a retired lorry driver, lost his cool at the Seven Stars car park when the pay-and-display machine wouldn’t accept his coins.

After his patience wore thin, Doughty confronted traffic warden Wendy Williams with a barrage of abusive language and threats. At one point, he warned her that if she issued a ticket, it would be her last. Things escalated as he slapped her hand and told her to “go back to Newtown.”

Thanks to some police body-cam footage, the incident ended without further drama when a police employee stepped in, urging Doughty to apologise.
In court, Doughty expressed regret and accepted responsibility for his outburst, claiming frustration with the faulty machine. Despite his remorse, his past convictions for battery and threatening behaviour did him no favours. He was hit with a £500 fine, £200 in compensation to the warden, a £200 victim surcharge, and £85 in costs.
A stark reminder of why patience is key—especially in car parks! 🚗💥 🅿️
