⚽️ Heart-stopping Moment at Welsh Football Match ⚽️

A football match in Wales took a shocking turn when teenage goalkeeper, Rhys Jones, suffered a serious head injury after a collision on the pitch. The game between Cefn Albion and Kerry was paused for nearly 20 minutes as players and fans expressed their concern.
Seventeen-year-old Jones bravely rushed to intercept a ball, only to be accidentally kneed in the head by opposing striker, Luke Mumford. Remarkably, despite the severity, Rhys initially tried to continue playing. But soon after, he collapsed, revealing a severe gash, and leaving his teammates visibly shaken.

Describing the chilling moment, Cefn’s General Manager, Chris Parry, noted the freak nature of the accident. “You heard the impact more than you saw it,” he recounted. Despite quick attendance by spectators and medics, there were tense moments as an air ambulance landed on the pitch after full-time, with Jones eventually taken to Wrexham Hospital by road.

Rhys, displaying incredible resilience, is currently in good spirits, though he faces surgery to fit a metal plate in his skull. He expressed eagerness to return home to family soon. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the quick-thinking paramedics and local A&E sister who rushed to his aid.
Cefn Albion FC, showing unwavering community spirit, expressed gratitude for the support and well wishes they’ve received. They’ve also extended well wishes to Kerry’s Luke Mumford, who sustained a knee injury in the same collision.
Sending our thoughts to Rhys and Luke for swift recoveries. Can’t wait to see Rhys back on the pitch doing what he loves! 💪⚽️
