π¨ Big News for Football Fans! π¨

Football Focus, a Saturday staple for over 50 years, is set to be axed by the BBC at the end of this season. πΊπ The iconic show that kicked off in 1974 is ending due to “changing audience behaviours”.

Dan Walker, a beloved former host, took to social media to share his heartfelt reaction. He reminisced about watching the show with his dad and the joy of hosting it for 12 years. Dan said, “Saturdays were always special with Football Focus. It’s disappointing there’s no room for it in today’s changing football scene.”
BBC’s head of sport, Alex Kay-Jelski, explained that this decision was made before recent budget cuts were announced, pointing out that the way fans engage with football has evolved. He assured us that regular presenter Alex Scott will still be part of the BBC’s sports content, including the upcoming Women’s World Cup in Brazil. πβ½

The Football Interview will replace Football Focus in the Saturday 12.45pm slot, offering in-depth chats with football stars like Bukayo Saka and Emma Hayes.
