A heartbroken solicitor found himself in tears as he desperately tried to clear his name in court. Ben Garvey, 38, has been accused of being involved in the supply of cocaine and steroids while allegedly perverting the course of justice. Facing the jury, Garvey shared his emotional struggle, denying any wrongdoing and insisting he was just trying to set the record straight.

The allegations involve Garvey allegedly passing messages between a cocaine dealer and his runner. He also reportedly encouraged friends to buy cocaine, as discovered through messages from a WhatsApp group. Despite the claims, Garvey insists he was merely purchasing champagne, not drugs.

Garvey’s ties with the alleged cocaine dealer, Daniel Baker, 34, began in the summer of 2021. It’s claimed that his association included passing on sensitive messages from Baker’s runner, Jake Blackburn. However, Garvey defended himself, testifying that if any message had seemed inappropriate, he would have addressed it accordingly.
During the trial, Garvey spoke candidly about his role as a solicitor, stating that carrying messages for family and friends is part of his everyday life, but he would never compromise his integrity. Pointedly denying that he acted to assist Baker’s alleged drug dealings while Baker was in custody, Garvey maintained his innocence.
Garvey, who was once a partner at a reputable firm, shared that he never facilitated any unlawful activity and expressed his dedication to the justice system. His response to the accusations was clear: he’s committed to his profession and would not pervert the course of justice, emphasising his heartbreak over the situation he’s currently entangled in.
With the trial still in progress, Garvey, from Port Talbot, continues to deny all charges, including those of supplying Class A and C drugs and assisting in criminal activities. As the legal proceedings unfold, Garvey remains focused on vindicating himself. Stay tuned for updates as this intriguing case develops.
