Caught and sentenced: The perpetrators, Alfie Wheeler, Auryn Gustur, Connor Pitt, and Lewis Manito, were brought to justice at Cardiff Crown Court. Pitt, deemed the leader, received an 18-year sentence for arson with intent to endanger life. Gustur was sentenced to 15 and a half years, Wheeler to 13 years, and Manito got nine years.

Carol’s heart-wrenching words remind us of her loss, not only of her home but the memories attached to it: “Money cannot replace what I have lost. My memories vanished in that fire. I was independent before, but now I’m plagued with anxiety and stress. The only thing that survived was my false teeth.”
