Big changes are coming for British travellers! From April 10, 2026, the EU is ditching traditional passport stamping for Brits entering their borders. Instead, there’s a shiny new digital Entry/Exit System, where your passport, photo, and maybe even fingerprints will create a travel record valid for three years. Sounds efficient, right? But I’m gonna miss the good old passport stamp.

Remember flipping through your passport and seeing those stamps from all over the world? Those little ink marks are like tiny time machines, taking us back to trips filled with sunshine, mishaps, and laughter. Whether it was a stolen purse adventure in Poland or a whistle-stop weekend in Paris, those stamps are concrete memories you can’t swipe left on.

Sure, the digital system promises smoother border experiences and fewer queues, which is great! After all, no one wants to debate their travel plans with a stern border officer when you’re itching for the beach.

While I appreciate the convenience of tech, I can’t help but feel like we’re losing something. These days, everything’s going digital – goodbye ticket stubs, hello QR codes. It’s efficient, but also kind of soulless. A screenshot just doesn’t hit in the same way as a crumpled, sun-faded piece of paper.

When I’m older, I won’t be able to shuffle through my old passports and chuckle at youthful escapades. And, let’s face it, passports are likely the only travel diaries some of us keep!

So, here’s to the little stamp that could. For now, it’ll be just a fond memory of travel past, as the future gets a digital revamp. ✨
