**Anthea Turner Opens Up About Life with Fiancé Mark Armstrong and the Secrets to Their Lasting Bond**

Television presenter Anthea Turner has offered a rare and candid glimpse into her personal life, sharing details about her relationship with fiancé Mark Armstrong. The couple, who have been together for six years, appear to radiate contentment and mutual support as they navigate life’s challenges together, both personal and public.

Anthea, 65, became a household name through her roles on shows such as *Blue Peter* and *Top of the Pops*. In recent years, she has emerged as an advocate for healthy living, publishing her own wellness book, *How to Age Well: The Secrets*, in 2021. Her commitment to health, she revealed, has even influenced Mark since they began dating in 2019.
Opening up in a conversation with *Woman’s Weekly* magazine, Turner admitted that Mark, a 59-year-old businessman, has adopted healthier habits since becoming her partner. “Mark is definitely healthier since he met me,” she shared, highlighting the positive changes their union has brought about. The pair prefer to spend evenings at home in London, preparing wholesome meals from scratch rather than dining out. Turner credits Mark’s Italian heritage and family background for his enthusiasm in the kitchen, noting that he learnt his culinary skills from his mother and grandmother.
While the couple have been engaged for some time, they have yet to tie the knot – a situation Turner acknowledges with humour and perspective. The original plan had been for a romantic ceremony in Rome in September 2020, but unforeseen circumstances forced them to hit pause. The loss of both their mothers, as well as the widespread disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, led to multiple postponements. “We talk about it, then we don’t talk about it, and then something happens,” Turner explained, “but of course, we feel married because we’ve been together for six years.”
Turner is quick to emphasise the depth of their connection, describing their relationship as one she deeply values. “I am never lonely with Mark, even if he’s not in. We are very connected,” she remarked in her interview. She expressed gratitude for the life they have built together, reflecting that she feels “very grateful” and cherishes their time as she recognises that she now has more years behind her than in front.
Practicalities have led Turner to reconsider the location of their impending nuptials. She disclosed in a separate interview with *Bella* magazine that the wedding is now likely to take place in the UK, citing the preference for a straightforward event rather than the logistical challenge of planning a ceremony abroad. Laughing about the details yet to be resolved, Turner joked, “God knows how many bridesmaids I’m going to have!”
Anthea Turner’s romantic history has also been marked by two previous marriages. Her first was to BBC Radio 1 DJ Peter Powell, now 74, lasting from 1990 to 1998. She later wed television personality Grant Bovey in 2000, a marriage which ended in 2015. Despite the end of her relationship with Bovey, Turner remains closely connected with his three daughters – Lily, Amelia, and Claudia – whom she welcomed into her life as stepdaughters.
The television presenter speaks fondly of her unique experience as a stepmother. “Being a stepmum for me is one of my favourite roles. I love all three of my stepdaughters, and we have a great bond,” she revealed. Though she was unable to have children of her own, Turner feels immeasurably fortunate to have maintained a close relationship with her stepdaughters, stating, “I’m so lucky to have them in my life despite the fact that their dad and I are no longer together.”
In sharing her story, Turner provides not only a window into her own world, but also valuable insight into maintaining healthy relationships, adapting to life’s unexpected turns, and finding fulfilment in later life. Her openness is a reminder of the enduring nature of family bonds, whether by blood or by choice, and the importance of gratitude and personal growth at every stage of life.
