Project manager Will Crockerton offers a peek behind the scenes, sharing plans to preserve some of the building’s unique historical features, like its stunning stained glass windows. The restoration team has been hard at work salvaging these treasures to ensure they’re around for future generations to admire.

Work on 1838 has revealed quite a bit of history buried under shop fittings and some less-than-sturdy floors. But now, with a blank canvas, the building is being stripped back to its charming old brick and steelwork, giving it a trendy industrial vibe that’ll blend with its historic charm.

Set to open in stages, the restaurant aims to welcome its first guests by autumn 2026. A reception bar will be added next, with the grand unveiling of 20 stylish rooms and a spa slated for Easter next year. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s talk of a state-of-the-art gym, complete with plunge pools and hot tubs!

The team is also working with the local council to potentially develop the space above the town market, which could house more leisure facilities. Tenby 1838 is painting a fresh face on a treasured building, and it’ll definitely be a must-visit spot come summer. Stay tuned for more updates! 🌊🏨🥩🍹
